The Nordic Testing Days team has teamed up with Speak Easy with the goal of helping to introduce new speakers on the conference scene. The Speak Easy programs were started by Anne-Marie Charrett and Fiona Charles in order to promote and support diversity at conferences in practical ways (walking the talk, as they say). Speak Easy connects aspiring speakers with experienced mentors who will help to figure out the content, offer feedback on conference proposals, and coach you on giving the talk. From what we've seen, there have been some fabulous talks given by new speakers this year who have received mentoring and support from Speak Easy.
So we are all for this kind of good stuff which is why Nordic Testing Days reserves TWO speaking slots for new speakers who apply through Speak Easy.
Here's the important stuff:
- Call for papers through Speak Easy is open until January 1, 2016.
- Submit your idea on the Speak Easy page (make sure you select the correct conference!). You will be working on your proposal with a mentor.
- Speak Easy will forward the proposals to us and we'll pick the 2 to be included in the conference program.
- Selected speakers will receive the same benefits as other speakers: free ticket to the non-tutorial conference days and 2 nights at the conference hotel (and get to visit the incredible Tallinn Old Town and enjoy the white nights).
The question "do I have anything to say?" is a daunting one. Wouldn't you want to know the answer? Just try it, contact Speak Easy and see what happens. It's a chance worth taking.
Stand up! Speak up! Show up!
